Problem Description

What are the differences between FAT AP and FIT AP?

Solution

  • FAT AP

    Advantage:

No need for wireless controller, can work independently, small network cost is low

    Disadvantage:

The configuration of FAT AP is saved on the AP, and the loss of AP equipment can cause the leakage of system configuration.

The FAT AP software is stored on the AP. When the software is upgraded, it needs to be upgraded one by one, and the maintenance workload is heavy.

Each FAT AP only supports individual configuration, and building a large network requires a huge workload for AP configuration. It can only realize Layer 2 roaming, and cannot mention advanced features such as security and QOS.

  • AC+FIT AP

    Advantages:
FIT AP has zero configuration, which is convenient for installation and deployment. Supports three-tier roaming. The configuration is centrally managed and distributed by AC.
Supports advanced functions such as fast switching, QoS, wireless network security protection, and network failure self-healing.
    Disadvantages:
High cost, not suitable for small-scale networks AC configuration is more complicated than FAT AP.
