Problem Description

The customer plans to switch the native 10 gigabit interface on SPE-S3 to 1 gigabit interface and use a 1 gigabit opto-power module.

However, the actual test shows that the 1/3/0/4 interface of SPE-S3 does not respond when it is connected to the opto-electrical module, and an error message is displayed when the interface is switched to 1 gigabit on the cli.

Process Analysis

1. Query the optical module adaptation relationship and ensure that the SPE-S3 board supports optical to electrical modules.

2. Connect the SFP-GE-T-D module to the first four ports of RT-SPE-S3, and find that even if the opto-electrical module is not connected with the network cable, the interface can be directly switched to UP state.

3. The first four interfaces of SPE-S3 can normally use speed 1000 without error.

After the above test and analysis, it is preliminarily determined that the first four interfaces of SPE-S3 and the fifth interface are in different states, and there may be hardware differences or limitations due to some special conditions.

Further configuration analysis shows that the customer uses XG1/3/0/6, XG1/3/0/7, XG2/3/0/6, and XG2/3/0/7 for IRF deployment.

irf-port 1/1

port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/3/0/6

port group interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/3/0/7

This error occurs due to the nature of the product IRF interface.

Solution

Summary of product features:

1. The front and rear ports of SPE-S3 form a group, and there is no difference in hardware.

2. If a group of interfaces has stack ports, for the sake of device stability, this group of interfaces can only be used by 10 MBIT/s ports. In 10ge interface mode, service traffic can run normally.
