Problem Description

 The customer has not logged in to the S7500E through the console port for a long time and has forgotten the password. Now, the customer cannot log in to the switch through the console port.

Process Analysis

If Telnet is configured on the switch, you can log in to the device through Telnet and change or reset the login password of the console port.

If Telnet is not configured or the user has insufficient permissions after logging in to the device through Telnet, you can restore the device control only by deleting the configuration file.

Solution

      If the console password is lost and cannot be changed through Telnet, perform the following operations: Delete the startup file.The specific operation steps are as follows:

1.   Enter the Boot Menu

Press Ctrl+B to enter Boot Menu...4

Please input BootRom password:

 

   BOOT MENU

 

1. Download application file to device

2. Select application file to boot

3. Display all files in device

4. Delete file from device

5. Modify BootRom password

0. Reboot

Enter your choice(0-5):

2Export the device configuration file to the external TFTP/FTP server

BOOT MENU

1. Download application file to device

2. Select application file to boot

3. Display all files in device

4. Delete file from device

5. Modify BootRom password

0. Reboot

Please select application file upload choices:

1. Upload file from Flash via TFTP protocol

2. Upload file from CF card via TFTP protocol

0. Return to boot menu

Switch IP address        :192.168.0.36 172.16.0.1

Server IP address        :192.168.0.30 172.16.0.2

 // Enter the configuration file name, device address, and TFTP server address as required

In the BOOT menu, press CTRL+Y and ENTER to set the TFTP server as prompted and export the configuration file.

 

3Delete the current startup configuration file

Please select application file upload choices:

1. Upload file from Flash via TFTP protocol

2. Upload file from CF card via TFTP protocol

0. Return to boot menu

After exporting the configuration file, you can delete the startup file so that the device can start with empty configuration again. If the device configuration does not need to be saved, you can directly delete the startup file without backing up the configuration in step 2.  

 4Restart the switch

3. Display all files in device

4. Delete file from device

5. Modify BootRom password

0. Reboot

     After logging in to the device through the console port, you can set a new console password. If you want to restore the original configuration, delete the console port login Settings first
