Problem Description

iMC WSM has AP peak utilization over 100% in the AP statistics report in the View Wireless Service Report, as shown in the following figure.

Process Analysis

The reason is the peak AP utilization, which is the ratio of the maximum number of online users on the AP to the utilization factor in the profile. iMC system predefined the value of 15 in the profile, so it says that the peak AP utilization is the percentage obtained by dividing the number of users online by 15. So that the iMC side report shows the result is normal.

One can also find the following description in the online help of IMC:

Wireless Service Manager Help >> Operation Guide >> Wireless Service Report

"AP Peak/Average Utilization:Peak/Average usage of an AP, calculated as Peak/Average online client quantity*100/Utilization index. The default utilization index is 15. You can set the utilization index in file conf\wirelessUserTrenderline.conf."

Solution

The number of terminals recommended to be accessed under an AP is within 20, and it is recommended to optimize the wireless configuration and deployment to ensure that the users accessed under each AP are close to each other to avoid having a lot of terminals accessed under some APs and few terminals accessed under some APs.
