IOS 14 private address features
On September 17, 2020, Apple released the official version of IOS 14/iPad OS14, and we summarized the features of IOS 14 private address for the function of opening "private address" for wireless LAN brought by the new system upgrade as follows:
1) the setting is based on SSID settings, and the switch is turned on by default after the system upgrade (according to the test, the random MAC will not change immediately after the system upgrade, and will change only after a number of hours of re-association wifi)
2) random MAC function is based on each SSID, even if the SSID is ignored and reconnected to the same SSID, the random MAC will not change. Therefore, if the terminal is repeatedly connected to the same SSID, roaming and other functions will not be affected.
3) When the private address switch function is turned on and off, the random MAC does not change under the same SSID.
4) The random MAC of the terminal is different when connecting to the same AP, even if it is a different SSID under the same radio.
5) IOS 14 official version of the random MAC function as long as the SSID is the same, then the random MAC will be the same, will not change. (The random MAC mechanism of IOS 14 Beta6 released on June 23rd is changed every 24 hours)
In the follow-up and troubleshooting process, it is necessary to focus on the real MAC of the terminal (whether it is a random MAC) when it comes to portal-aware authentication, MAC authentication and authentication involving MAC under ADcampus networking.
