AP cannot register on AC.
Fit AP and AC complete registration by establishing CAPWAP tunnels through a three-layer IP network.
Therefore, the troubleshooting approach is to first ensure that AP and AC can communicate normally at the IP layer, and then check the version, configuration, license, and other information.
1. Check the AP power indicator to ensure that the AP has started.
2. View the current registration status of AP
Command: display wlan ap all
For example: State "I" indicates that the AP is not online; "R/M" and "R/B" indicate that the AP is online, with "R/M" being the main tunnel and "R/B" being the backup tunnel.
3. Check if the AP has obtained an IP address.
If you can console AP, just check on the AP directly.
If you can't console AP, you can check it on the DHCP server.
Command:display dhcp server ip-in-use pool ap_01
4. Check and determine the registration method of AP and AC according to the actual networking situation of the user.
Under different registration methods in the layer 2 and layer 3, the way AP discovers and registers AC is different, and the direction of troubleshooting is also different.
5. Layer 2 method:
Confirm the connectivity between AC and AP, ping the IP address of AP on AC.
If there is an issue with the second-layer interoperability, check the second-layer networking of AP and AC, and troubleshoot physical links, VLAN configuration, STP status, etc.
6. Layer 3 method:
AP needs to obtain the IP address of AC. There are two ways for AP to obtain the IP address of AC.
(1)Through DHCP option43;
Command: display dhcp client verbose ,by checking the command, you can confirm whether the Boot Server address obtained by the AP is the AC address.
For cases where the AC registration address is obtained through DHCP option43, it is necessary to ensure that the option43 parameter configuration of the DHCP Server is correct.
(2) Manually set the WLAN AC IP on the AP;
Command: wlan ac ip x.x.x.x
For example, check if the AP is configured with the correct WLAN AC IP address.
7. AP, AC can interconnect at three layers.
AC with source (interface address specified by option43) ping AP to test.
If there is a problem with the three-layer interconnectivity, the three-layer routing from AP to AC needs to be checked to ensure IP layer interconnectivity.
8. Check version compatibility and AP template configuration
If the AP and AC can communicate normally at the IP layer, but still cannot register normally, please follow the troubleshooting methods below.
(1)Check if the AC and AP versions match. Check if the AC Flash has the version file for the thin AP. If not, upload the correct AP version file to the AC Flash.And confirm the file version can be matched.
(2) Check the AP registration status.
If the AP status repeatedly stays in IL (ImageLoad) and cannot go online, it is very likely that the AC and AP versions do not match, and the correct thin AP version file needs to be re-uploaded to the AC Flash.
Command: display wlan ap all
For example, if the AP repeatedly stays in IL state, it is very likely that the version file does not match.
(3) Check the AP model, serial number configuration to ensure it matches the actual information of the AP.
9. View AP License on AC, compare the number of AP registrations on AC, and check if the license is sufficient.
(1) Check the number of AP registrations supported by the AC License
(2) Check the number of AP currently registered on AC
