Problem Description

When the PDA connects to our company's wireless network and scans the QR code to transfer files to the internal HTTP server, intermittent disconnections occur. During disconnection, the PDA web page reports a net::ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE error, but the PDA shows full wireless signal strength.

Process Analysis

Known information:

1. Fault coverage: All PDA terminals under all APs; other types of terminals are not affected.

2. Fault trigger conditions: Occurs during PDA roaming or when a PDA is reused after being idle for some time.

3. Profile of the site: Local forwarding, local association, PSK authentication; terminal retention function, active client reconnection trigger, anti-sticky function are configured under the radio interface.

4. PDA does not support WiFi6 protocol (WiFi5 is enforced on AC) but supports preamble; customer feedback indicates the PDA remains online with normal RSSI when the fault occurs.

Further analysis:

1. Change the terminal association point to AC and configure the clear template to verify if the issue recurs. The issue persists.

2. According to the offline records from the PDA, the PDA disconnected at the time of failure.

02-11 16:27:32    xx         74/3       PDA              Offline 6032

02-11 16:26:16    xx        74/3       PDA              Online  0

6032:client RSSI was lower than the threshold and was decreasing

3. Then check the AC logbuff, which matches the reason code.

Client xxx went offline from BSS xxx with SSID xx on AP xxx Radio ID 3. State changed to Unauth. Reason:AP triggered (client RSSI was lower than the threshold and was decreasing )

4. Before the failure, the PDA RSSI was consistently 0. It is preliminarily confirmed that the cause of the failure is excessively low RSSI, leading the AP to actively disconnect and reconnect the PDA. The client side was unaware and misjudged it as network flapping.

Solution

Delete the function that triggers client reconnection and the anti-stickiness function

option client reconnect enable rssi 30
sacp anti-sticky enable rssi 25 interval 2
