Network Topology

AC bypass networking, AP Layer 3 online.

Problem Description

The customer purchased a batch of WA6520 APs. After the APs went online, a new service template was created. When this batch of APs was bound to the template, terminals could not connect to the SSID.

Process Analysis

The customer feedback indicates that the terminal cannot connect. After acknowledgment, it was found that the terminal could not associate with the SSID, rather than failing during the association process. A comparison of the configurations revealed that the new service template lacked one configuration item present in the old service template.

client association-location ap

The old service template included the configuration for the association point on the AP. After adding this command to the new service template, the terminal successfully associated with the wireless network.

Solution

The client association-location AP configuration sets the association point on the AP. By default, it is on the AC. If the remote AP function is not used, this command is not recommended. This is only a temporary mitigation method. The solution still requires ensuring the stability of the physical link between the AC and the AP.
