Problem Description

Some interfaces of the PoE power supply switch stopped supplying power during operation

Process Analysis

1.display poe pse/display poe interface View remaining power supply capacity and current power supply status of interfaces

2.display poe interface+interface View maximum available power supply capacity of an interface

3.Perform tests in batches:

interface gigabitethernet 1/0/3
port link-mode bridge
port access
vlan 203
stp edged-port
poe enable
poe force-power

Force power supply

Note: After configuring this command, the device will skip checks and directly supply power to the PD. Users must ensure the power provided by the device matches the PDs power requirements. Otherwise, the PD may be damaged. Enable this function with caution.

interface
gigabitethernet 1/0/3
port link-mode bridge
port access
vlan 203
stp edged-port
poe enable
poe max-power 99000
Maximum power supply capacity below 100000

After enabling forced power supply on multiple ports, subsequent ports may report insufficient power because the default port reservation has a maximum power of 30W, leading to insufficient total power. You can limit the maximum power per port.

ReferenceAnalysis of PoE Power Supply Issues for Phone Sets Connected to S5130EI Switch - Zhiliao Community

Since the device detects the phone set CLASS rating as 1, it can only provide a maximum of 3.84W power. However, in practice, the phone set may require more than 3.84W during certain operations. In this case, the switch will consider the PD device overloaded and stop supplying power to the PD device.

If the maximum power supply is manually configured to 1-29.9W, the switch will disable class detection and allocate power according to the configured setting.

stp edged-port
poe enable
poe class-detect ignore Ignore classification

poe enable
poe  detection-mode simple
poe legacy enable

Non-standard power supply

poe detection-mode { none | simple | strict }

none: No detection. As long as there is no short circuit or open circuit when connected to the PD device, the PoE interface can supply power to the PD.

simple: Simple detection mode. The PD only needs to meet the minimum requirements of IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at to receive power.

strict: Strict detection mode. The PD must meet all requirements of IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at to receive power.

Solution

The first 8 ports of IE4500-36S-UPWR-G default to BT mode and support AT/BT switchover; the specifications of the last 16 ports are AT mode, which cannot be configured and remain default.AT
Therefore, the rear ports do not support modifying the PoE mode using the poe standard command.

Resolved after switching the first 8 ports to AT mode.

Under the interface:

poe standard at
