Problem Description
Drive manufacturers (Seagate, Toshiba, Western Digital) have ended manufacture of 15K 2.5in SAS HDDs. Our company uses other models of SAS HDDs with equivalent performance (e.g., 10K 2.5in SAS) as the spare part replacement solution.
Cause Analysis
With the rapid development of Solid State Drive (SSD) technology and performance in the storage industry, the performance advantage of 15K 2.5in SAS HDDs has gradually diminished, and customer demand has increasingly declined. Currently, drive suppliers have ended manufacture of 15K 2.5in SAS HDDs
Workaround/Solutions
For the discontinued 15K 2.5in SAS HDDs, our company uses other models of SAS HDDs with equivalent performance as replacement spare parts. The capacity of the replacement spare part is ≥ the original spare part, and mixing the two types functions normally. Refer to the following for detailed replacement relationships:
